Inspiration Sunday

Source: Astronomy Picture of the Day

This photograph of the moon rising over the Lick Observatory in California was taken by astrophotographer, Rick Baldridge on March 7, 2012.  Mr. Baldrige provided permission for use of this photo here.

This prompt is yours to draw inspiration from. If you use it, and decide to post the resulting piece on your blog, or other online forum that hosts your writing, let me know in the comments section. I'll make sure to drop by and share my thoughts.

  1. I've always wondered how they get those photos with the sun or moon looking so absolutely huge!

    1. The astrophotographer, Mr. Baldridge, shared with me his process for taking this photograph. A lot of work goes into finding out when the moon will be at its fullest, when it will pass, and from what vantage point the must shoot from. So interesting, and sparked an idea for me.

  2. Okay, here I go with my dark side.

There had been reports that the moon was thrown off its orbit due to a collision with a large meteorite, but no one took it seriously, until it was much too late.

    1. Nice, Marie. I like how you can develop from the photograph and not include it, or describe it in your piece.
