I hope you'll allow me to give myself a little pat on the back. I received an honorable mention for the piece I submitted to this week's Friday Picture Show, on Jen DeSantis' blog. This was the prompt she offered:
Here is the 100-word piece I submitted:
“So Poppop, shall we read this one tonight?” I show him the cover of
The Goblet of Fire when I sit beside his hospital bed. From out of the
dark corner of the room, I notice the shadow move toward us.
“That’s too long! The grim reaper’ll get me before the end.”
“Then you’ll just have to tell him to wait, won’t you?” My eyebrow
quirks and I smile as the shadow stops its approach. As I read, I
watch it recede into the dark corner and disappear.
Not even He can resist the power of the boy who lived.
It was great to wake up to this news this morning. I enjoyed putting that together, and I tested my muscles with some serious culling of excess words. Keeping within the 100 word limit is hard!
Check out DeJean Smith and Siobhan Muir's winning pieces here. Congratulations folks!
